API Key Deprecation

After February 1, 2024, Airtable API Keys will no longer work as valid credentials for MESA due to the API deprecation by Airtable.

What does this mean for my workflow?

If you've created or installed a workflow that uses an Airtable trigger or action(s), our team will have created a duplicate version of your workflow that will have a prefix in the title called "Airtable Update:" that you will need to use going forward.

Here is an example of what your duplicated workflow will look like:

You will need to update your Airtable credentials, enable the newly duplicated workflow, and disable the old workflow.

You will need to create a new OAuth credential only once, but you will also have to manually go through each Airtable step and select the new OAuth credentials.

Steps to create your new OAuth Airtable credential

  1. In your newly duplicated Airtable workflow, click open an Airtable step and the Account Credentials menu so that you're prompted to setup your new OAuth credential.

  2. Next, click the Connect with Airtable button. This should generate a pop-up modal for you to setup your OAuth access.

  3. In that modal, click Add a base and select All current and future bases in all current and future workspaces.

    • This base access is recommended because it will allow you to easily link any base from any workspace you create in your Airtable to your MESA workflow. If you choose another selection for this access, you may need to create a new credential for workflows going forward.

  4. After adding the base, click the Grant access button.

  5. When your workflow refreshes, you should see your new credential added to the selector within the Airtable step.

  6. If you have multiple Airtable steps in your workflow, be sure to open the Account Credentials menu of each one and ensure that the selected credential matches the newest credential you've just created.

  7. After updating all the Airtable step credentials, save the workflow and enable the "Airtable update" workflow while disabling the old workflow.

After that's done, you're all set!
